So a lot of parents, spouses, and friends ask me about gifts for photographers. So, in this season of gift-giving and love, I wanted to compile a list of some cute gifts for photographers, from the cheaper ones to the extravagant. I don’t get any profit from this, I just thought it was about time I put together a list.

A Reflector – $20

If your novice photographer doesn’t already have a reflector, it is an essential tool. I leave it in my car all the time because it’s one of those simple tools that can make a big difference. I use it for outside portraits on overcast days, for studio setups, and a lot of other stuff. This one is a big, white, fold-able disk that has an interchangeable zipper cover that can be flipped for different colors for different purposes.

Camera Pillow – $6.85 

This is a cute, vintage decorative pillow that would be perfect for a photographer!

“Read This if You Want to Take Great Photographs” Book – $12.95

I searched long and hard for the perfect book for a beginner photographers. This is a very good one. It doesn’t get super technical, but has lots of pictures and covers ALL the things that you really do need to know, like composition, an understanding of light, and settings. It’s updated, well-designed, visual, and perfect for an amateur or just-beginning photographer. When I got it in the mail, even I started pouring through it. It has a TON of really good information packed into a smallish-looking book.

“Read This if You Want to Take Great Photographs: Journal” – $12.09

This is the companion book to the “Read This if You Want to Take Great Photographs” by Henry Carroll. It’s kind if a visual diary that encourages creative photography every day. It’s a cute little gift that I would love to have!

Photographer Camera Scarf – $16 

This is a cute scarf! It’s kind of gauzy, it’s the perfect accessory. I’m rather partial to scarves, though, so it would have to depend on the style of your photographer.

Minimalist Camera Photographer Tshirt – $20 

Cute, minimalist unisex tshirt. It’s really soft, comfortable, and simple!

Brownwell Camera Wall Decor – Instant Download – $3.53 

You’d need to print it at a local store like Walgreens or Costco, but this is a cute digital download is perfect for the wall of any photographer’s room or editing office.

50mm Prime Lens – $300

This is a little geekier of a gift, but the first lens I always recommend is a prime 50mm with F1.4. Sigma makes one for around $300, but what you can get depends on what brand of camera your photographer has. Why this lens? A prime lens is one that DOESN’T ZOOM. However, F1.4 is an aperture that is just GORGEOUS, and you can’t get that low of an aperture on any zoom lenses. Any growing photographer who is starting to get to know manual settings will quickly realize that most amateur lenses only go down to F5.6, and it doesn’t give that beautiful, bokeh background that most professional photographers get. This is where a prime, low-aperture lens comes in. This was one of my first lenses and, even at that price tag, it still stays with me. I have $2,000 lenses in my bag, but I still love the quality of my basic, Sigma 50mm prime 1.4 Art lens.
